This is the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) New York City Field Office file on Herbert Hill (1924-2004). Hill was a Socialist Workers Party activist in New York in the 1940s, and broke with the Party in 1949. He joined the NAACP in 1947, and served as its Labor Director from 1951-77. Afterward, Hill was the Evjue-Bascom Professor of Afro-American Studies and Industrial Relations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This file was released to the historian Trevor Griffey in March, 2010, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.
